The Pentagon says it is ready to deliver “limited” missile strikes against specific targets in Syria. I am intrigued by the term “limited” as if it refers to a gentler way of conducting war. Look at all that is limited in our world. For one, there are sales: for a limited time only. There are warrantees with limited coverage. Partnerships are limited. War is limited?
I guess that limited hostilities gives us the assurance that the bad stuff won’t last long and that life can go back to what it was, only this isn’t the case in Syria where life hasn’t been the same for over a decade. And what about other places like Iraq where 51 people have died this week from “coordinated” bombings in Bagdhad. Go back? Go forward? Dead end.
