“She sees like sunlight filtering through flowers she once grew with dreams from her bedroom window. “ I wrote that decades ago as part of a photo/poetry presentation published in a local newspaper. It was my attempt at poking fun at the talent of Poet Rod McKuen, Hallmark Cards, and general sappiness. I was flattered that peopled liked the package, so I let it go, meaning I accepted the compliments.
Additionally, a friend took the photos to fit the words. I haven’t seen her in over 40 years, but she did excellent work back then. I Googled her name–she does not appear to be a famous photographer. I certainly didn’t cut it in the world of poetry, or greeting cards.
I hope to find the spoils of my young, furtive mind somewhere in a garage, attic or closet. At a minimum the words and photos will me make me laugh, if not put a new face on sappiness in 2013.
