What will language be in 2100? Got it! Spelling as we know it will be extinct. Acronyms will abound along with keys words that will be known as “conveyers.” For example, “sets” or something close to that will mean that you are about to give reasons why something is blah, blah. If you are asked for an opinion, you may answer “bad sets,” meaning you have multiple reasons not to like something.

The grammar of today will be replaced by “internal” and “external” emotes with different rules for each, although “rules” will be broken down into “close” and “exact.”  For example, you express internal feelings in the close mode if you are unsure. Get it? If you are pressed for more detail on “bad sets,” then you could go into the ”exact” mode.

The chief difference between today and 2100 will be that future communications environment will be much faster than today. Intellectuals will be those who are able to capture nuances in rapid fire exchanges.

Here’s a famous exchange from the 1954 movie “Marty”:

Angie: What do you wanna do tonight?

Marty: I dunno Angie. What do you wanna do?

Here it is in 2100:

Angie: Sets?

Marty: Setless, Angie. Sets?

The future doesn’t work for me because we will kill the beauty of being setless.
