There is a new Olympic event, thanks to Sochi hotels. Essentially, you get locked in bathroom and have to break out using ingenuity and strength. And in a head scratcher, some Sochi luxury bathrooms come with a separate container for used toilet paper which is not to be flushed, but this element is not part of the competition.
NBC is showing events on four channels. I caught the men’s cross country final Sunday morning, afternoon and evening before I realized it was the same event. The scenery was nice, but there is something wrong with sitting on a sofa while watching people ski uphill.
Curling is the one Olympic event I could do without killing myself. A broken neck would be a given on snowboarding. My downhill skills require no trees and snowbanks. I could speed skate, provided the track was a straightaway with a padded wall at the end. As far as figure skating is concerned, I could probably do a 1/4 Lutz on a best of three scenario.
