Unlike prior years, I’m seeing honey bees with full pollen sacs (the yellow bulges on each side of the bee) early in the day. Thanks to strong March rains, there are more honeybee-attracting plants in bloom than I’ve seen in the past four years. This bee is foraging in California lilac in our front yard, about 100 feet from the hive (below) in our backyard.
