This week I took photos of some gnarled oaks along Pacheco Pass. Unremarkable shots save for the fact that I clicked the shutter from the driver’s seat of my stopped car. Stuck in a post holiday traffic jam, not moving for several minutes at a time. Overall I had an hour added to my trip. The bad part was once I was finished with the pass and on unobstructed I-5, raving maniacs began passing me at speeds over 90 mph–the freeway limit is 70 mph.
I am often disappointed in the mentality of the freeway driver. Courtesy and safety are a distant afterthought for people who speed way over the limit. I am often a few miles over, but never to the point of tailgating at 70 mph or more. Rest assured, if one of these careless speeders read this–and that is highly unlikely–they’d laugh. Sad.
