The Well Focused Bird Shot

A mallard hen walking on Asilomar Beach.
A scrub jay on a chimney.

Most bird photos I take aren’t that good. But I shoot a great deal, so I end up with a fair number of photos I like. My goal is a sharp focus. Here are a few of my favorites.

House sparrow on a round rock at the parking lot of a fast food burger joint.

This blue parrot was hanging out at a garage sale in Carmel. Those claws are impressive.

  1. That’s a Hyacinth Macaw and i sure hope that the owners are feeding it an extremely high-fat diet. They need way more fat — and far less protein — than do the other macaw species.

  2. The owners moved away. Didn’t know them.
