California on Fire…

I took Ivan for two walks yesterday, each made in a light flurry of ashes from three nearby fires. There are 23 major fires in our state right now along with a daily death toll of 100 from the coronavirus. The photo is what the sun looked like in mid-morning, a red ball in the smoky haze that’s been with us for three days.

Most of the fires were triggered by lightening strikes–more than 11,000 have struck this week while we endure triple-digit heat,

Once again we owe thanks to responders, this time the firefighters who are battling these blazes.

    1. People aren’t getting a breather from the onslaught of fires, Covid, earthquakes and brutally hot weather. The poor restaurants that are only allowed to serve food at tables outside–no one can sit outside because it is raining ashes, so biz has disappeared again.
