Mourning Dove on the Roof

Mourning dove on our wood roof.

Mourning doves have a mortality rate of 75 percent during their first year of life. They are prone to make unwise decisions about where they nest. I’ve seen them set up home in a garage, or in a window box, places that cats frequent.

Yesterday, I spotted a mourning dove on our wood roof. I hope it isn’t planning to settle in as a small army of cats patrol the roof tops in our neighborhood.

My labels: grandfather, father, veteran, writer, poet, photographer and dreamer in pursuit of the meaning of life. Getting close, although I'm running out of time--probably why I'm so close.
