Holiday Stress at the Beach

Leo and I expected a holiday crowd at the Carmel-by-the-Sea beach yesterday morning; instead, we encountered a seal “frozen” in place. I called the Marine Mammal Rescue Center and then helped others keep people and dogs away from this mammal which remained in place for over 90 minutes until recue crews arrived. A volunteer with the Center put large signs on the beach to alert people to the need to keep away. I hope this story has a happy ending–don’t know the outcome yet.
