This baby elephant seal was in obvious distress on Carmel-by-the-Sea Beach this week until a member of our volunteer group, Carmel Cares, spotted it. The Marine Mammal Center was contacted and a short time later the seal was rescued. While our volunteer group’s main activity is keeping the beach clean, helping save marine life gives us a higher purpose.
