Fading Monarchs

I haven’t seen a monarch butterfly in nearly four years. Ten years ago they were commonplace, especially in our backyard. But open fields near our house are all but gone. The flowers I planted for the monarchs are visited by a few cabbage whites and painted ladies. Here’s my last photo of a monarch.
