I was sitting on a sofa yesterday, visiting, when I was told there was a woodpecker on the other side of a dual paned glass door, about 20 feet away in a coastal oak. I happened to have my camera nearby, so I put on a 300 mm lens and clicked, not expecting much since I couldn’t find the bird at first and I didn’t want to open the door for fear of scaring it away. I was pleasantly surprised by the result: an acorn woodpecker deciding if this was the tree. It wasn’t. But I got the image.
