After voluntarily cleaning trash from the beach in Carmel for three years, I’ve developed a keen eye for what doesn’t belong, even when piles of kelp are involved. Yup, a soda can jumped out at me—see the photos. It’s a shame that volunteers are needed rid the sand of plastic spoons, water bottles, paper plates and candy wrappers. I could go on. Please put me out of business.
