Despite the crowds and the noise, Carmel’s annual Halloween Parade down Ocean Avenue was no problem for Leo yesterday. He was aware of his surroundings and fixed on leading his group. The key to his behavior was the fact there was another dog about his size in the parade. Several times during the march the two touched snouts, an exchange of confidence. There were about 80 people and a handful of dogs in our group wearing neon yellow vests with the lettering, Carmel Cares volunteer. We pick up trash in the town and on the beach.
Other groups included actors in costume from the local theatre, a policeman driving a vintage Chevy (Car 51) and emergency medical technicians. And lots of people yelling and waving.
