Every hike along the Big Sur coast is another encounter with an alligator lizard scurrying across a path, or scaling a boulder. Of course, one day a lizard crawled into our house. Got the broom out and swept it back outside. It’s a jungle out there!
The alligator lizard is a common sight on trails along the Monterey Coast. It blends in with the rocks and brush, yet, up close, its skin has specks of color.
I see these alligator lizards everyday but rarely photograph them. I made an exception for this one on a boulder by the ocean. Liked the colors.
