This “rock island” at Point Lobos usually has three or four harbor seals on it,but this week I saw a solo seal napping on jagged those edges as if they were a comfort mattress.
Regardless of how many times I see a resting harbor seal, I marvel at how it can sleep on a jagged rock, let alone one that is barely larger than the seal. So, once again it is time to “marvel.”
At first I thought this harbor seal was dead–not accustomed to seeing them on their back like this. But it was very much alive this past Sunday at Point Lobos.
