Two days ago I spotted an unusually robust spider hanging out in a web about eight feet off the ground outside of my bedroom window. DSC_0231 - CopyI assume that large spiders, like this one, can kill you with one bite, or make your head swell up to a size-14 cap.DSC_0228 - Copy One photo is the spider seen with the naked eye while the other one is magnified to reveal its Halloween coloring.

The spider is still there 48 hours later along with a small fly. Should I eliminate it? Maybe natural causes will do the job?
My friend, the internet, says that web-spinning spiders live one to three years under the best of circumstances but usually succumb to other pests and viruses within a few months. Oh yeah, the female tarantula can live more than 20 years. Ah, the nature of it all.
