I did a double-take when I drove by California’s State Capitol yesterday. The Christmas tree was up. Isn’t it a little early?

DSC_0235 - CopyAbout 1/3 of the tree has been decorated, including the placement of a multi-pointed star on top.

When I took the shot—looks like other shots from prior years—I caught two weddings and an ice cream vendor—these added attractions make this year’s photo unique to November 16th. Not shown is a small child throwing a giant tantrum.

The standard for giant Christmas trees is Rockefeller Center, Manhattan. This year’s 12-ton tree was cut on the same day as California’s tree—November 7. Maybe there is some primer on when big trees should be cut for public display?

DSC_0232 - CopyFinally, the political love fest between President Obama and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie continues. For the first time four trees from New Jersey were selected to be the indoor symbols at the White House this Christmas. They are Douglas firs with declined to state party affiliations. I’m from Jersey so I’m very okay with this.

In my area, they were putting out Christmas decorations at the same time they were putting out Halloween items. Guess they want people to spend money they don’t have.
