The inside of abalone shells are called “jewels of the ocean” for obvious reasons—they shimmer like silver amid dark green and black rocks, moss, seaweed, etc. I prefer the other side where sea life like this petrified star fish are “glued” to the outer shell. Some people think I arranged this display, but what you see is what I found. The shell on the right is from a red abalone, my favorite.
