Let’s start the work week off with this “can’t believe it news.” Thieves—that general term for people who take without permission–absconded this past weekend with the blood of late Pope John Paul II, according to numerous press reports. The Polish-born Pope, who died in 2005, is supposed to become a saint in May, so experts—that general term for people who talk too much—surmise that the blood will rise in value after the sainthood. Really? Experts believe there might be ransom involved. Could this crime be ripe for a movie? I wouldn’t go see it—not believable.

But my real point here is that the blood was kept in a “reliquary” of gold and glass. Not refrigerated? Enough.
