Chrysler, Dylan Miss the Mark

One of the worst Super Bowl ads came from
Chrysler which paid Bob Dylan to hawk “American Pride” and, I guess, their
vehicles. I liked the beat of the music and the Dylanesque statements, but draw
the line when Dylan says “Let Germany brew your beer.” Dude, American beer is
the best, and I’m not talking the watery taste of Bud. When I had dinner with a
contingent of Germans a few years ago, they raved about San Francisco’s Anchor
Steam Beer. I love Coloma Brown from the American River Brewing company and
Pliny the Younger, brewed in Santa Rosa, is one of the greatest beers in the
world. I don’t like it when words fit the song, but not the truth. Thumbs down
on Chrysler and Dylan.
