Pelican Party

The windswept sand at Carmel River State Beach kept people away yesterday, much to the delight of pelicans who enjoyed flying low from the river to the Pacific Ocean and back at a high altitude where they glided at Mach-1 speed. The beach separates the two bodies of water by about 500 feet.
