Sawdust Art

DSC_0332 - Copy

Art is a very broad term. Today I was using a table saw to cut through a large piece of wood. The sawdust blew out onto a flat piece of cardboard, leaving a random pattern on it that I think qualifies as “art.” Let’s argue the point. Is it art if someone buys it? Actually, I don’t want to labor this point. I grew up knowing I couldn’t draw well. My best bet was always randomness: throwing paint on paper, tilting watercolors so they run all which ways, and unintentional acts like sawing wood.

The important point is to be creative at all times. Write. Draw (even if you stink at it). That’s right, don’t let anyone tell you what art is…that is your call. So, while some artists tear up their paintings, I choose to use a shop vac!

My labels: grandfather, father, veteran, writer, poet, photographer and dreamer in pursuit of the meaning of life. Getting close, although I'm running out of time--probably why I'm so close.
