The Fan Creed: “You do what it takes.”

By chance my daughter and I got the last two bar stools at Finnerty’s, a lower Manhattan sports bar that serves as an East Coast gathering spot for fans of the West Coast San Francisco Giants.  We watched Sunday’s Giants win over the Royals with Madison Bumgarner ( MadBum) throwing a complete game shutout. To add to the joy, the bar poured San Francisco’s greatest brew, Anchor Steam.

Back in California for Game 7, I knew I had to replicate the “Game 5 aura,” so I sat on a bar stool and drank Anchor Steam in my living room while watching MadBum win again, making the Giants World Champs for the third time in five years. Whatever it takes!
