Yesterday afternoon I went for a walk around Carmel Point when I spotted a red-tailed hawk atop a towering cypress tree. I took a few shots and left. A few minutes later the hawk was on patrol.
I usually keep my camera on auto focus, sports mode, for thw “without warning” shots. But I’ve found that if the moving object is competing with a busy background, the focus gets confused–have to switch to manual focus. While I was shooting the hawk in auto focus, a white heron flew by some houses–that shot is slightly blurry. Nice problem to have.
