Six years ago about this time of year Anne and I and our late friend Bill were driving in Italy, somewhat lost on our way to Ravenna. I don’t remember the name of this town at the bottom of a mountain, but it was beautifully framed that day by evergreens and trees with spring blooms. I pulled to the side of the road, took this shot, then sped off ala tourista. I’ve looked at this photo countless times, an image of a place I didn’t take the time to know and a reminder to slow down.
