I was relaxing with a beer yesterday after putting together a raised flower garden for my honey bees. Looked down and saw this straggler bee on the empty chair next to me. There are bees that guard the hive, or collect nectar, or gather water as well as a large number of bees who stay in the hive. This brings us to the stragglers. Like robots with crossed wires, some bees appear to be confused. This shot was taken at a time when the bees are supposed to be at the hive. Note the bee’s shadow–this is one very sedate insect.
