History Burns Up in Sacramento

Two days ago a century-old brick and redwood building burned to the ground in the heart of Sacramento. The Crystal Ice factory was undergoing restoration when a fire broke out Saturday morning–cause under investigation.The ancient structure was to be turned into restaurants, shops and lofts.  What we do know is that the patina of old growth redwood is gone forever. Sad.
