Last week while taking photos of high surf rolling into the Carmel coastline, I decided to take a selfie. After all, Facebook wanted me to post a current photo of myself. So, I went to Sammy’s Beach (my secret place at the bottom of a cliff) and put my camera on a rock and set the self-timer. The concept was to capture the waves breaking in the background. Shown above is the first shot, intended to test the focal point. Okay, I was way off, but the waves coming in behind me were sharp, and, bigger than I thought, although I wasn’t looking at the time—the camera was. I got soaked below the knees but kept my balance enough to pull the camera to safety. I’ll save the selfie for another day.
