People who are odd and jumpy are “squirrely,” according to those who bastardize the English language. Since Monday is a tough day for those who enjoyed their weekend too much, we have the “squirrely Monday,” meaning, some of us are odd and jumpy about going to work again. Not an issue here, but I thought I’d point it out since I recently overheard a young woman at Starbucks declare it was a Squirrely Monday.
Armed with the above “facts,” I went to the Carmel Mission Trail yesterday to check out those squirrels that constantly jump from tree branch to tree branch. Long tails are key to their flight and balance. The population was almost wiped out by a virus a few years back, but they appear to be flourishing, if not leaping, again. Hope your Monday is not too squirrely.
