zoo.1 - Copy

Around 10 a.m. yesterday a lion emerged from the enclosed feeding area at the Sacramento Zoo to greet the day and his visitors like me. He wandered around, appearing somewhat bored. Then the lioness came out. The king didn’t hold back his affection. He approached from the rear and attempted to mount her, but she recoiled and pushed him away, grabbing a tuft of his mane in the process.  As the crowd grew he moved to the side and yawned although in the photo he appears to be roaring.

The rebuff happened so fast I wasn’t able to focus properly.
