Weekly Photo Challenge: Admiration

As a former baseball catcher with an assortment of foul ball injuries, I admire the “courage” of the home plate ump in major league baseball. This shot is from a San Francisco Giants game. Note how the ump has his right hand on the catcher who has just snagged a 95 mph fastball. Also note the ump’s wedding ring and  and bare skin. If it’s not covered, it will get bruised at some point. The most vulnerable area is the neck. I always wore a neck guard.
