Took this shot from the top of Carmel Mission Trail–the underbrush is very dry even though there is ample greenery. The nearby Soberanes forest fire which consumed 57 homes and 100,00 acres of forest land was started by an illegal campfire on July 22. As recently as a week ago a tinge of smoke hung over this area. Now crews are assessing the potential for floods when the rains come.
