bird-with-acorn

The coastal oaks in Carmel are full of acorns at this time of year. Shown is a blue jay perched yesterday atop the Carmel Mission with, of course, a prize catch. Jays are outdone by the much larger crows that easily strip an oak of its acorns. Crows drop the acorns on top of flat roofs, hoping to soften them up so they can be eaten. Not sure what this jay is going to do.
