Monday’s Path: Rocky Bluff in the Rain

Life doesn’t always go as scripted. Today’s path is the unexpected. We were hiking the Rocky Bluff trail at Crab Orchard Wildlife Refuge near Carbondale, Illinois when the rains hit with little warning. The dry dirt path was transformed into a stream. Thunder began rolling above us. We took shelter under a sandstone bluff. The sound of rain on the forest canopy was a pleasant surprise–I video-taped the moment. The hike was better than expected.
