
I came to Southern Illinois to hike. And I did. But I also had a field day taking photos of various insects, most of them butterflies. I “captured” a Silver Spotted Skipper on my last day. Note the dark goggle-like eyes, very cool.
Butterflies have thousands of receptors in each of their two eyes that aid them in their daily, short life as an insect searching for nectar. Amazing.
