My recent trip to Southern Illinois provided me with the opportunity to walk on six paths for the first time. In four of the trails my sister and I were apparently the first ones to walk on them that day, based on the spider webs crisscrossing each path. We flailed away with sticks to clear our way and not always with complete success. Still, these paths led to breathtaking views and the solitude of the forest, including the silent flight of butterflies. Very nice.
