Around 6 p.m. yesterday the fog began forming over the Carmel River–that’s fog in the lower right side of the photo. We’ve had triple digit inland in much of Northern California with temps cooling along the coast.

But as I looked up I saw the moon, bright and detailed to the naked eye, although in the photo you’ll notice how small it appears in relation to the rest of the scene. I pulled out a 300mm lens and took a hand-held closeup. Amen.
