For the second consecutive day the quail family returned to our backyard for “honey bee” water. This time was clearly a “you’re on your own exercise.” The mom stood off to the side, about five feet away while four chicks lapped up water–the dad was ten feet away. Note, the four chicks lowered their heads into the water in unison each time.
I took a shot of one of the chicks in a coming of age moment after the water visit was over.
And for the third consecutive day a painted lady returned at about the same time to visit some flowers while the quails were finishing up. I assume it is the same butterfly each day.
