A turkey vulture on alert atop a150-foot high evergreen.
From the rear the vulture, crouched and ready to swoop, looks like a bat from ground level.

I doubt if a sports team will be named after the turkey vultures that perch on towering evergreens in Sacramento. They are nature’s Dracula, disposing of carrion in parks and fields. The city does have a Triple-A baseball team, the River Cats, named for the feral and fierce felines that hang out with vultures along the river that passes near the stadium.
