Proud Bird

I was struck by how this bird was perched calmly on a pole at Carmel Beach and did not move when I approached. Rather than fly away, it posed, chest out. This small bird is black in the shade but with a bluish cast to it in the sun. My bird ID app says it’s a Brewer’s Blackbird, a common species around here.
