Mallard Couples

Took several shots yesterday of mallard couples at the Carmel River Lagoon. Ducks floating on calm waters are nice subjects, but the rushing Carmel River adds some spice to photos of the mostly commonly seen duck in the Northern Hemisphere.

A few feet away from the mallards on the log, there was a female mallard (hen) by herself (see below). She was quite large, perhaps, pregnant.
