Sea gulls congregate at the end of the Carmel River. I’ve noticed that there is this fallen tree that serves as some kind of throne for certain gulls. Note how five somewhat evenly spaced gulls remain perched on the sideways tree despite the frenetic behavior of the other gulls behind them. There are no gulls in front of the gang, just me. the photographer. The gang stayed perched for at least 20 minutes–I finally left, so I don’t know how long they remained in their regal position.
