Today’s Future

Covid-19 has altered everyday life. In this country some states are placing various forms of limits on gatherings and, I assume, there will soon be guidelines for a national quarantine. In this photo taken this week, an elderly couple is walking on a dirt road with West Sacramento in the distance. I have seen an increase in walkers everywhere, especially those, like me, who are in their senior years. Today the Governor of New York called for park fees to be waived to allow people to get outside in places that are not crowded, a small idea with benefits for healthy walkers. He also called for the closing of gyms, bars and restaurants as gathering places. If we can lower the spread of Covid-19–we’re not there yet–the virus will be controlled although fatalities will occur. Today’s future requires cooperation, common sense and…long walks.
