California’s famed seaside town, Carmel-by-the-Sea, draws tourists in large numbers during the summer. Despite the pandemic, the sidewalks were crowded yesterday and everyone I saw wore a mask. In fact, the town has signs warning that not wearing a face mask will result in a $100 fine. The mandate doesn’t apply to people eating at the restaurant tables that have now been moved to the street, the reason why the town looked packed. Also, the inland areas are seeing temperatures rise above 100 degrees while Carmel has been a very comfortable with a real feel of 70-degrees.
