Yesterday, I saw the unexpected at Carmel State Beach. I only had my phone, so I took a video of a black oystercatcher on the beach. I hadn’t seen one in nearly six years, consistent with reports of a decline in the species which nests in rocks along the northwest coastline. I know it’s just one bird, but, we can only hope for their recovery. Human encroachment and erosion have reduced nesting areas for this magnificent bird.
I also have to work on sharpening the video replay which well-focused on the phone. Any tips?
