I rarely witness sunrises but I got one this week at 70 mph—my speed, not the sun’s. I was driving I-5 South near the Newman exit at dawn. Ok, Newman is in the heart of California’s agricultural zone and that means hazy sunrises. This one had promise, but I didn’t have time to stop, so I clicked this photo with the window down.
I’ve passed up dozens of landscape wonders this year while driving. Most scenes were rolling hills with fog and sun. Not stopping is sometimes a safety decision—no place to turn off. Or, I’m running late. Or, and this is the major reason, I simply have a hard time slowing down for a photo-op. Yesterday was a compromise.
