I had a dream last night that GM recalled every vehicle it had made, including the clunker Suburban I bought in 1993. Some CEO came to my door and handed me an oversized corporate check for $30,000, stating in a deep voice: “we’re very sorry for your loss.”
But grim reality sets in tomorrow when GM’s CEO will tell Congress she doesn’t know why it took the company ten years to recall a flawed ignition switch linked to 13 fatalities. According to a prepared statement available today, she will vow to find out why it took so long, I guess, to get to the truth. File this corporate move under “too big to know better.”
