Falling Acorn…?

Birds and squirrels are having a field day in the coastal oaks of Monterey County this month.. Their target is, of course, those mighty acorns. While our driveway is peppered with fallen acorns, a neighbor had one suspended by some moth goo (don’t know the technical term) which made for an unusual photo, as shown above.

    • The extended drought is forcing oaks to produce more seeds because they fear they are going to die soon and want to provide for new oaks, or so this professor says. Maybe, the acorns are immature. It is sad to see our trees suffer.
